THE PAST

What does your past tell you about yourself? What decisions did you make that you were happy about? What types of people became your friends? What kinds of music, books, movies and the like drew your attention? What topics completely turned you off? Your past is full of many areas, not just a history of your decisions or actions, but of your thoughts, feelings and ideas. When you journal about your past, you have the freedom to explore any or all areas of your past. You can explore them in a serious mode, asking questions and grilling yourself over past mistakes or difficult times. Or you can create a playful atmosphere, such as appointing a committee to determine just how much fun you have engaged in in just the past year. What if you created an award for yourself, for the most days that you stopped and had fun in 2008. Or for the most days that you helped your friends have fun and goof off, rather than focus on their worries all day. Wouldn’t that be an interesting way of looking at your past too? Keep an open mind when you journal and you start to remember your past. Let your heard and mind guide you into a creative exploration of what your inner world was like then, as opposed to what your inner world is like today. Have fun journaling!
