Time and Journaling
TIME AND JOURNALING

How does time fit in with your journaling? Do you just journal about present activities, concerns, celebrations, etc? Or do you prefer to focus just on past memories, problems that needed solving or do you want to look to the future, to plan or create a dream or vision for what your life might look like at a later date?
What I like best about journaling is that you can move through time as often as you move your hand down the page to write. You can start one sentence in the past and end up in the describing something in the present which leads to a dream for the future by the end of the same paragraph. It is possible to do that! I’m not sure that I’d recommend it, if you are new to journaling, but it is fun to do once you have a good handle on the journal process.
So, you could go back to a painful memory and let it go, through writing an unsent letter to the offending party. Then in the present you could describe a reward that you would give yourself, for completing that letting go step and moving on and then follow it with a dream for what your future choice might be in finding a new friend in the future. That is how you could cross time in your journal as you connect each action via a particular theme or topic that you’ve chosen.
You can always just spend time writing entries in one time frame, too. Sometimes it takes more than one entry to let go of a painful memory. Sometimes it takes more than one entry to decide that you want to start a new habit in the present. Finally, it is good to take your time when writing your future visions for change, it’s good to become clear about what you really want so that you can begin working toward bringing that vision about sooner rather than later. Feel free to experiment with time in your journaling. Always feel free to share your experiences with our readers here so that we can congratulate you on your progress.
